Flex spending+HSA’s

Have you used your 2009 Flex spending money?

Here is a list of big ticket items to consider if you are thinking about your 2010 health expenditures. It’s almost that time to submit next year’s flex spending numbers to H.R. (*note – we’re not saying that these procedures are necessarily even covered under your flex spending or health savings accounts, but in our experience, some of those plans DO cover these. Check with your plan first.)

  • Invisalign, Invisalign Teen, or other orthodontic appliances; more comes out of your pocket if you do not have orthodontic coverage on insurance plans.
  • Dental implants
  • Dentures
  • Tooth restorations
  • Glasses
  • Contacts
  • Lasik or other corrective eye surgery
  • Prescription medications
  • any other items we should add?? please email to danica@wellesleydentalgroup.com

And of course, the co-pays from doctor visits, chiropractic sessions, and more add up, especially with a family.

An blog post from Kristen Gerencher’s “Health Matters” August discusses the potential changes to Flex spending and HSA’s too. You can read her blog at http://blogs.marketwatch.com/healthmatters/2009/08/20/health-care-reform-may-trim-our-flex-spending-accounts/
