Happily Ever After!
What a beautiful couple!
Dr. Zarah Ali, of Wellesley Dental Group, and new graduate, Dr. Hassan Barra were married on August 6th, 2016 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza
Dr. Barra grew up in Northern Virginia and went to Virginia Commonwealth University. His passion for dentistry brought him to Tufts, where he met the love of his life, Zarah. Their relationship blossomed, and he soon knew she was the one! He proposed last fall, and the two set the date for this summer.
Before the wedding, it is traditional for a Pakistani couple to have a Mayuun ceremony, which was held at the Ali residence in Wellesley on Thursday, August 4th. The festivities started with henna application for the bride, followed by friends and other women in the family. The close family and friends sang traditional songs, played the dhol
(an Indian drum), and dined in the backyard.
On Friday, the festivities continued. The family held a Mehndi celebration at Cyclorama in Boston. Close family and friends gave special performances for the evening, followed by lots of dancing. What a colorful event! The groom’s side of the family wore blue, while the bride’s side wore salmon. The bride entered in a traditional palki carried over the shoulders of her dad, brothers, and cousins.

Dr. Ali and Dr. Barra had a beautiful, intimate religious ceremony at noon, surrounded by close family and friends. The ceremony was officiated by both Imam Safwan Eid and Dr. Ali’s godmother, Reverend Dr. Bonnie Scott.

The festivities ended on a sweet note with the wedding reception at the beautiful Fairmont Copley Plaza. With fragrant floral arrangements and crystal chandeliers highlighting the elegant ballroom, the hotel was the perfect venue for the event. It was truly an unforgettable night!
Dr. Ali wore a stunning embroidered champagne-colored dress and a traditional red veil with beading and a gold trim of flowers. Her bridesmaids wore gold sarees and were accompanied by sharply-dressed grooms in tuxes. Dr. Ejaz Ali, father of the bride, walked her down the aisle and gave a very touching welcome address.
