Happy National Doctor’s Day!

Happy National Doctor’s Day! Every year on March 30th, the United States holds National Doctor’s Day, which honors our dedicating and caring physicians, dentists, and other medical professionals.

The first observance of National Doctor’s Day took place on March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia, where Dr. Charles B. Almond’s wife Eudora Brown Almond spent the day celebrating physicians. On that day, people mailed greeting cards to doctors and decorated the graves of deceased doctors with flowers.

President George Bush established this national day with Proclamation 6253 on February 21, 1991. In this proclamation, President Bush recognizes American physicians and pioneers in medical research who constantly work so hard and sacrifice their time to treat and prevent illnesses and injury.

To celebrate this day, here are some of our favorite quotes on doctors:

“A good doctor’s comforting and reassuring words are sometimes more powerful than medicines.”

“The purpose of a doctor or any human in general should not be to simply delay the death of a patient, but to increase the person’s quality of life.”

“Good doctors understand responsibility better than privilege and practice accountability better than business.”

Don’t forget to thank your doctors today! They always make sure to prescribe their patients a smile 🙂
