Ringing in the New Year in Greater Boston

As we count down to 2017 and say goodbye to 2016, we’d like to share with you some fun ways to ring in the new year in the Greater Boston area. Although we don’t have the tradition of dropping a giant ball like in Times Square, New York City, there are plenty of ways to have a great time on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in Boston!

1. Go bowling

For $20, you can purchase a guaranteed admission ticket (covering fees, shoes, appetizers, favors, and bowling) to Rock & Bowl New Year’s Eve at Jillian’s/Lucky Strike (145 Ipswich St in Kenmore Square) from 7PM to 2AM. Jillian’s also has private lane bowling packages available. So put on your bowling shoes and have some fun!

2. Dress up for a theme party

Have you always dreamed of spending your new year’s eve in the classiest way possible? Make sure to check out the James Bond New Year’s Eve Gala at The Castle at Park Plaza. There will be live dancing, a live DJ, and even a red carpet entrance!

3. Go on a hike

Going on a hike is a great way to get more fit for the new year! The First Day Hike program is a hiking event on New Year’s Day where free guided hikes are offered. Hikes around the Boston area include Carson Beach, Blue Hills Reservation, and Nantasket Beach State Reservation.

4. Winter on the Waterfront

From 1-4PM today, you can follow the ice sculpture trail in the North End, Waterfront, and Charlestown neighborhoods to find family-friendly activities, food, and museums along the way.

5. First Night

You can’t go wrong with going to the events planned for the annual First Night celebration, which includes ice sculptures, performances, dance lessons, and a light and pyrotechnics show above Copley Square and the Boston Public Library.

We hope you have a lovely New Year’s Eve. See you next year!
